Makrofol
Efficent production and versatility in use

Makrofol and Bayfol provide designers and processors with a range of engineering films that leave extensive scope for their product ideas while, at the same time, meeting all the requirements for efficient production. This is made possible by the high-grade technical properties of the film and the extensive range available, as well as the fact that special grades of film can be selectively modified for specific purposes. The fields of application are thus correspondingly large and diversified. They include automotive, aeronautical and marine engineering, electronics, computer engineering, household appliance industries, machine tools and packaging, medical technology and the sports and leisure sector.

When it comes to processing and application technology, Makrofol and Bayfol offer a range of distinctive features and advantages:

Dimensional stability
1. dimensional stability at high temperatures
2. large formats printable with accurate register
3. multi-purpose printing
4. ink-drying at elevated temperatures

Light transmission
1. brilliancy even when printed on rear to protect the printing from scratches and abrasion
2. optimum utilisation of light energy with transmitted light

Heat resistance
Makrofol (DE, LT, BL)
1. short-term heat resistance 135 to 140°C
Bayfol CR
1. short-term heat resistance up to approximately 110°C

Elasticity
1. good resilience, e.g. for membrane switches and ID cards

Low-temperature resistance
1. no embrittlement
2. uniform resilience over a wide range of temperatures

Electrical insulation resistance
1. thermoforming of electrical insulation components
2. economical die-cutting of intermediate electrical insulation layers

Printability
1. excellent ink adhesion with standard acrylate- or PVC-based commercial inks and ultraviolet curing inks
2. no pre-treatment of the film required

Suitability for laser engraving
1. high contrast attainable
2. colour change produced by engraving in transparent film is protected against abrasion

Hot and cold formability
1. high formability for a high thermoforming ratio
2. low elastic recovery and relaxation, giving high contour definition and high dimensional stability
3. availability of grades which do not suffer stress-whitening during cold forming (Makrofol DE, Bayfol AS-A, Bayfol CR)

Suitability for die-cutting
1. steel strip cutter
2. column-guided punching tools with a top and bottom punch

Suitability for adhesive bonding
1. double-sided adhesive tape
2. transfer adhesives
3. adhesives suitable for screen printing
4. two-pack adhesives

Recycling
1. mechanically recyclable
2. Bayer supplies recyclate products (granules) incorporating returned single-sort Makrofol
